MR YIN SHAO LOONG
With a background in the NGO sector and a passion for the environment and human rights, Mr. Yin Shao Loong started his career in politics following GE12, when he took on the role as policy advisor to the Selangor State Executive Councilor for Environment, Tourism, and Consumer Affairs.
He then went on to help form and later head PKR’s think tank, Institut Rakyat. Here the aim was to conduct research and formulate policies directed towards democracy and social justice and a sustainable future at national and state levels. Institut Rakyat has been an active member of, among others, BERSIH, the civil society coalition for free and fair elections, and the coalition mobilising on the excessive powers granted to the Prime Minister via the National Security Council Bill.
Leading up to GE14 Mr Yin Shao Loong left Institut Rakyat to become the Strategic Communications Director for the Chief Minister of Selangor. He continued to advise Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin bin Ali, in his new position as Cabinet Minister of Economic Affairs, taking on the role as Policy Officer.
